Grouchy

I am a little grouchy. Okay, I admit. In fact, I have no problem admitting it. I am one of those who have little or no patience for scamming, queuing, wrong things, dirt, mess, and disorganization. I am also one of those who cannot stand inconvenient people, who show up at your house without warning, who insist on meddling in your life or giving an opinion without being invited. Jesus! Just thinking about it gives you a headache. I don’t like it, I can’t stand it, I can’t tolerate it.
But don’t think I’m a rascal, far from it. I make it a point to say good morning, good afternoon, good night, and excuse me, even to those obnoxious here in the building who don’t respond. I think it is the minimum for those who claim to have a “good education” and to be a “good person”. Society can function better with small pleasantries. For example, giving up your place in the line for older people, even when the line not for older people.
My wife says that I am “too straight”. Am I? But I prefer to think that I was born in the wrong country. I would certainly be happier in a place where people obeyed the law, were more tolerant, and respected others, as in England or Canada. In Brazil, the culture of improvisation, the “brazilian way”, the damned “jeitinho”, is really nefarious. And have no doubt that we are a shitty country precisely because of that.
I prefer not to disturb and I hate to be disturbed. And you, don’t even think about coming uninvited, understand?
